Yeah Wanda, they all have a hollow center. It varies in size from nut to nut. Just one of the many challenges of tagua carving. Its something to consider every time you carve one. I am glad that you like my carvings.

I am about to post my latest project. A tagua rat. It will be cuter than it sounds. Check it out, if you are so inclined. Good luck and let us see your tagua carving. I for one am interested. Good luck and don't slice your thumbs off!

Mateo, I still have both thumbs although one has a few battle scars. Is it the rat with purpleheart eyes? I looked at your blog earlier. You do really good work. Now I have to find a whole nut again. I have slices and chunks. I also have a new respect for the band saw. Those Tague nuts sure can fly when they break in chunks while slicing them.

If I can figure out how to post an all ready posted picture I will show you my modern woman cameo. Not your traditional one. I aged it to resemble old ivory.

Matt,
I love your frog. He captures the essence of the tree frogs we have around here in the summer time. I also enjoyed your blog on tagua nut carving. I did do a "card protector" out of tagua nut, for our son in law who plays poker in tournaments out in Vegas. It's a shame that they have that hollow spot in them but for carving something the size and shape of a poker chip, you can work around that hollow pretty well. Anyway, great job on your pieces. Makes me want to try something else in Tagua nut. Thanks for sharing.

Ok that's how it started but I didn't like the rope thing so here it is now.

Thanks Susieq, I'm glad that you liked my carving. I hope I have inspired you to carve more of them.

Wanda that is a very cool little carving you made there. I know it was not easy. What did you use to "age" it?
