| | "Table for One" by Marc Barger Here's the most recent piece in a commission of about...who knows how many birds! She says one or a pair of each bird she's seen in her back yard so a couple left to do! Have done a Cardinal, Indigo Bunting and now the Chickadee. Next is a Goldfinch. Tupelo and acrylics. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! |

| | Re: "Table for One" by Marc Barger Mark, you have really captured the little critter beautifully. Chickadee's are at our window feeder constantly and I love watching them. You have done a great job on carving it, painting it and on the presentation in the scene. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to the others in the set the lady ordered.

| | Re: "Table for One" by Marc Barger Marc, I love it. I'll have to show it to my daughter, the ornithologist...
The story about you almost eating the seed is not surprising now. It looks as though your little chickadee could do the same. I envy the woman who has all of these wonderful pieces commissioned. What a collection they will make!

How did you do the moss? |

Moss was done with a heavy acrylic modeling paste and very fine sawdust. Colored the paste to a green and then dabbed that on in the areas I wanted the moss. Then while still wet sprinkled the sawdust over those areas, pressed it in with my finger (lightly) blew off the excess, let it dry so the sawdust was bonded on to the paste, then painted over it. Gave it this nice rough mossy looking texture. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
