Very Impressive piece Mark, Habitat is exceptional. A question for you, how is Lime for carving, texturing and burning....is it comparable to Basswood or as they call it in Europe "Linden".

If I may be so bold, I would have added a bit more to the bottom of the base, like maybe a couple of shorter stems with buds. The one stem which is fantastic looks a bit lonely, and with the Foxglove plant they normally have a few later ones sprouting from the base.

Nice work Mark

Ken

hi mate... I agree on the base, I done the one sin, that you should not do!! thats to do the bird & stem without designing the base ..
this was the second base for this carving...
carving lime is very good ,sometimes it will fuzz-up if not sealed well, not tried basswood ,but been told it works the same...I tried jelutong once but never liked it.....thanks mark.

Hey, that's a beautiful piece of work Mark. I love the foxglove. You didn't specifically say, but I assume the blossoms themselves are also copper foil? Also, I was under the impression that "lime" was another common name for basswood. No?

Anyhow, an elegant artwork ... thx for sharing. Looking forward to seeing your ducks.

the blossoms are wood, only the stems are copper & leaves...lime & basswood are the same family , but i believe your basswood is a bit harder? thanks mark...
