Smile Started an Eagle

Started an Eagle, looks like a long project, enjoying it though. Got to come up with a base right away. Still scratching my head. The Eagle is life size.

Oscar, I intended to measure the length of the carving, but forgot, grin. Old age. Its 32 inches long. Cut it out of a 40" x 14" x 12" block of tupelo. This is a project that I've wanted to do for a number of years , but couldn't get a block of Tupelo big enough.

Sweet. Looks like you are off to a very good start. I would be done at this point, but by the looks of all those burrs in the back ground you are going to take it further. LOL

Hi Hugh,

My choice for a piece like that would be a large piece of drift wood...or maybe a well worn root from a creek bottom....we have several eagles near here and enjoy watching them. Good luck with the finish...looks good now!
