| | | Re: SNOW Callynne,
Carving a doll is something I have always wanted to try! (dunno why, I never played with dolls as a kid except my Johnny and Jane West action figures) but I have always wanted to try it.
Do you have any photos of your doll? I'd really love to see it and your other carvings! Do you have a website?

| | | Re: SNOW I purcahsed something called Tub O' Texture by Delta at a Hobby Lobby, 16 ozs for $9.99. I think this is probably the same stuff Nancy G is talking about. I tried some on the base of a Santa this weekend, it looks great.
Callynne49 has a good point, I know the show my club has requires the piece to be entirely of wood. So if you are thinking of competing this would not be the way to go. But most of the Santas I carve are gifts, and I think the 'snow' really adds to the piece. |

Callynne your carvings are Awesome! I just love the faces on them all. Are all of the dolls carved the same way with cloth bodies? Love that buffalo! Do you drill holes in the body parts for sewing?

| | | Re: SNOW Â* Â*Hey Donna, thanks for the compliments, especially about the buffalo, I had my doubts about it, too smooth looking. Â*But I decided when I started carving never to go back and try to fix something, each piece is a learning experience and shows my progress.
Â* Â* Yes, I drill the body parts to my dolls. I also insert wire before I stuff them, that way I can pose them. Â*If you ever decide to make one and have any questions e-mail me and I'll tell you how I do it. Â*Callynne |

| | | Re: SNOW Hey Callynne49, Excellant work! I love the 'buck trophy', very realistic! Hope my wife doesn't come across the site, or I'll be carving a doll. HEHE |

| | | Re: SNOW Thanks Rando, if you ever get cornered into doing a doll, I'll be happy to give you some advice! I felt the same way about doing animals, didn't think I would be able to do them or would enjoy doing them, but I was wrong. Can see where making dolls might be a little different thing for guys though! At least I know my husband would have no interest in it! Ha! Ha! Callynne |

| | | Re: SNOW Callynne,
The dolls are amazing and the critters are wonderful, but I find myself dazzled by Kiara's Reflection. Very nice work.

| | | Re: SNOW Thanks Dave, my, you do have a way with words! I appreciate hearing what you thought of my work. I have to carve another fairy and make a fairy doll for Christmas presents, hope they turn out as well as Kiara did. Thanks again, Callynne | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
