Default Snow

Can anyone tell how to simulate snow on the base of a carving? Thanks.

Any one of those taxidermy supplies should have "snow" material that can be used. Here's one.....http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/

They have snow, foliage, water and a bunch of other materials, plus books and videos on applications of these materials.

I've tried it a couple of ways. One was using the stuff you buy and I don't like it myself. On my elk I just went over the snowy area with a medium Typhoon bur, left the "fuzzies" on, painted it white then sprayed with Deft. The fuzzies stayed but settled down, not too fuzzy then. I like the look of this better. I was doing it on basswood, don't know if you are or how it might work on a harder wood. Attached photo.

Wow, that sure worked, Nancy! I'll have to keep that in mind.....'cept, of course, not much snow in fish habitat! Maybe I could try an "ice fishing" scene.....hmmmmm.

there is another way you could buy the spray on snow stuff and spray that on it actually looks like snow and it can be up to 2 inces thick so u can make it look like the snow was drifting the only downside to this is after about 5 months it stains the wood rainbow colours(it stays the same colour) so u cant wipe it off
