Default Shelving Board Birds

I didn't want to rush the Eve carving to the finish so a few scroll saw birds were
a nice diversion, now it's back to Eve for the detail work.

I realized the other day that all of the materials except the glass eyes came from
Lowe's, The 3/4" shelving boards, glue, sand paper, stain and clear finish.

Both carvings are 9 pieces wide, the Cutout was done with a scroll saw and the
Roughout with a mallet.

The Duck is Poplar, 7" wide x 7.5" tall x 12.5" long
The Raptor is Pine, 6.5" wide x 16" tall x 6.5" deep
If duck's and raptor's were motorcycle's these two guys would be chopper's.

Bill

Bill, I love your birds. I had to check out twice what you used. What kind of stain did you use? I love the grain.
I am in awe.

Bill, they are fantastic. I really like the look of the poplar used for the duck, the grain pattern along the neck is wonderful.

How did you like working with poplar, I have used it in some woodworking projects but never thought about it for woodcarving?
Great job...

Doug

William, I always love to see your work. The finishes, the delicate lines and balance of them have me look again and again.

The bird perched on that narrow piece of the base compliments it all so well.
Thanks for showing it.
