Default Sharp-Shinned Hawk

Hi All,
Finally finished my hawk. Sorry that it's not a better picture but I've been too busy to retake it and I found myself with a few minutes here at work so thought I'd go ahead and post it.

It's carved from Aspen. I bought a 1x6 at Lowes and glued up a block.

Not the best paint job in the world but I had problems with this one. Just couldn't get the paint job to look right. Repainted it twice.

Thanks for looking. And thanks to all here for giving me the inspiration and encouragement to try new things.

Dwayne

Dwayne,
I looked and looked and I still can't see anything wrong with the paint job. The carving is very nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Mark and...Mark,
Thanks for the kind words. I just know I love carving birds of all sorts. The Aspen was quite nice to carve actually. The only problem is since it's a glue-up block the slightly varying grain gave me a fit a time or two. It would obviously have been best to carve a single block.

The stub he's sitting in is a piece of driftwood that I found at the river. I live near the Ohio River in Indiana. Not the cleanest river in the world. A soaking in a little bleach water made it a bit more, shall we say...sanitary.

Next up is a female Cardinal I believe.

Great seeing everyone's work here,
Dwayne
