| | shark teeth Hey Need some advice on getting teeth in a 3ft shark carving { a 2in thick plaque that will hang the wall} I'm plagerizing a Wick Ahrens white shark as best I can. Im using juniper {not strong enuf for teeth} Ive cut the lower jaw off and was going to use tooth picks as inserts. Am I on the right track? It looks good so far but good teeth are a must. |

| | Re: shark teeth The shark might have other ideas! Ha! Ha! Have you thought about getting a piece of 1/4" thick basswood at a craft or hobby store and carving individual teeth from it? Another trick is to use craft plywood. It's only 3-ply and not as thick as the basswood. To save time you can scroll saw the basic shape from either medium and then finish up with knife and sandpaper. Apply a bit of Titebond to the base and glue them in place. You could even pre-finish them.

| | Re: shark teeth If you want white teeth you might try using PVC pipe. I've seen people use it for small parts, such as horns and teeth. After a while I think it turns ivory in color and from what I've heard it carves fairly easily.

| | Re: shark teeth One thing that looks just like shark teeth is rose thorns. The only problem is finding them along with trying to find a dead plant, unless if you take them from a live one sparingly. Bird carver |

| | Re: shark teeth Hey As luck would have it I find myself fresh out of tagua nuts but all stocked up on PVC I cut a bunch of small pegs out of a piece of 3/4 PVC trim and it worked the best easy to carve and they look like nasty ol shark teeth with no effort You guys are the best thankyou
I have to admit that I wouldn't know a tagua nut if it rolled out of my shorts
Merry Christmas
