Default Second Carving

Heres my second attempt at carving its white cedar with glass eyes all carved with a dremel im still waiting on a bandsaw not having one really throws off the pattern when i apply it because i have to carve the side view then apply the overhead view and the proportions are thrown off sort of like putting a square peg into a round hole if you know what i mean but im sure having a saw will greatly improve my efforts i just started a green wing teal today its in block form tell me your thought on both good or bad just take into consideration they were only done with a dremel tool

Looks like you are off to a good start. up some pics of the progress, will more than likely start carving a few decoys when I get back and will also be looking for a band saw for them and turkey calls.

Very nice looking head. A few years ago when a neighbor built a log home made from western white cedar I was the fortunate recipient of all the left over logs. That is some of the finest carving wood that I've come across that was for free! I really like it.

Thanks for posting!

Your duck head looks very good. But I don't think he can swim without a body Yes, it is hard to work without a band saw....maybe you could try a coping saw?

Your doing a good job, if you want to improve your work, reference is the key. Books, tutorials etc. Hope this helps. Cheers
