Hello I'm here because I search a sketch for woodcarving and I want an owl . If there is somebody to help me and want to send me a sketch , it mill be so nice !!!!!! Thank you very much !!! |

I'm sure somewhere there are patterns for owls,,as there are plenty for the usual songbirds.I just don't know of any off hand. You might try to Google Owls,and all the variations of that for photos and such. Once you have a photo of the particular owl you like,,you could trace it,enlarge it on a copy machine to whatever size you like and basically make your own pattern although it would only be from one side. Fortunately most owls are fairly simple,,profiles are basically just large smooth puffy blob looking things with the most details in the face and tails with a couple of ears sticking up.These details would be lost in a pattern anyway once you rough it out. Here the details I believe would be found in the process of carving. This is what I found with the owls I've done. With a barn owl I did,,It seemed as though I merely rounded off a block and it was getting pretty close to looking like an owl.LOL...it wasn't nearly as difficult as capturing an Eagle or something like that. Get plenty of reference as this will be your greatest guide. |

peter-you did not say what kind of owl you where looking for . i do have a pattern for a saw-whet owl, which is on of the smaller North American owls. check my picturetrail for what it looks like. Frank
