Default sander

Hi folks,
I'm new to the group. Been carving for about 4 years, but still feel I'm a beginner. Is there any type of sander available to use on decoys? Drum sanders, even the rubber cushioned ones, seem to leave lumps & bumps. I'd like something faster than old fashioned elbow grease to do the initial sanding.
Thanks,
DickB.

Dick, this might not be the problem, but when you come to an area that the cushion sander is making bumps, its because the sander is following hard and then soft spots in the wood, and once you get the bumps the sander will keep following them. Try going across the bumps, and not with them, usually that will clean them up. Hope this helps.
