Smile redbreasted nuthatch eyes

Does the red breasted nuthatch have 4 or 5 mm brown eyes?

Does anyone have a reliable chart reference for birds/ducks eye dimensions?

Thanks.
I just see one reference for nuthatch. I thought eye size would be different for the red breasted vs the white breasted.

Hello there,
Sorry that wasn't what you needed, I just did a quick Google for reference charts - there were several. Lori Corbett is a member of this forum and she is the goddess of all things songbirds. I am sure that she will run across this thread and fill you with the correct - decisive information you are looking for, as may several other of the resident masters of the song birds.

My two cents worth, 5 mm is definitely too large. 4 mm with a small eye lid, is suitable. Bevel the edge of the carved eye socket, and the eye lid won't be so noticeable. Hope this helps.
