Default Red Breasted

MERGANSER

....now.what were you thinking...hehe

I just finished painting this RBM I'll start the clear coats tomorrow with DEFT Satin. The head and neck is like the Gary Giberson Redbreasted Merganser's, the primary color reference was the live bird picture.

This one was carved without a pattern but I can use the pictures to make a pattern for the next one...for ME!! This one will go to my Nephew but I've got to have one for my collection too.

lol....
Thanks Marc,

The center of the head is two 1/4" oak boards with the grain running with the bill and two 3/16" basswood boards on each side of the head, the body is 12"x5"x3.5" basswood.

The paint is Jo Sonja's Acrylic, all done with a brush except for the breast and an airbrush was used to blend the black-brown-red.
