| | Pictures in gallery I've posted three pictures in the members gallery section if anyone wants to finally see some of my work. This is for a Christmas present a friend of mine is giving to his dad. The dog is actually alive and my friend took pictures of the dog for me to go by. Comments and critiques are welcome. I can't get better without others carvers input.

| | Re: Pictures in gallery I talked to the man who received the carving and he was very surprised and satisfied with the dog. He told me that he may have me carve his horse also. I was really pleased that he liked the carving. You never know how a piece is going to be received. Some people can't see all the hours of thought and work that go into producing a carving. It looks like junior made a good decision to have me carve the dog.

| | Re: Pictures in gallery Lance, I took a look at your carving, enlarged it to get a better look, and the memories came flooding back. My Uncle had an almost identical dog that I only got to know in her final years. Dixie had become fantastic with quail by that time. She wasted no time with areas where she had learned there were no birds. And, when we made a shot, she looked around at us, waiting to break the "point" and for the command, "fetch" with an arm pointing the direction. If we missed, she looked at us as if saying, "now I did my part, why didn't you hold up your end?" and was reluctant to break the point and continue hunting.
She lived to be so old that the last few hunts my Uncle had to carry her back to his truck after just a little while of hunting. I was with him on the final hunt. He came back to the truck with tears rolling down his face, looked at me, and said, "she ate a bird". Dixie was "retired" to being a pet; but, just never seemed too happy in that roll.
I'm sure the carving will mean a lot to the owner and even more a few years along. |

| | Re: Pictures in gallery Hi Ho, I had the same problem. Finally, after much wandering, I went to the line where it says "Welcome....." clicked on the 7 days, and found the photos on about the third page. |

| | Re: Pictures in gallery Very good job on the dog - your friend's dad must be really happy. Paul and Hi-Ho, to find pictures by a specific carver in the Picture Gallery click "Carver Galleries", click "Search" on the SECOND green line, type Groozier in "Search by Username", click "Execute Search" at the bottom of the page. You will get all pictures the carver posted. It took me a while to figure it out when I started using this site, maybe this should be posted in Suggestions and Feedback to help other carvers get around? Fred |
