| | Pewter legs/painting Hi guys,
I am about to start painting a bird. I decided to use the pewter legs on this one since it is my first. (may be my last it's pretty bad ) In thinking about painting the pewter legs I wonder what others use as far as type of paint or how the legs are prepped so that the paint doesn't flake off over time or with handling? I use acyrilics but this may not stick to the metal???? I did search for the answer but didn't come up with anything.
TIA

| | Re: Pewter legs/painting I paint with the same type of paint. You must remove any oil that your hands left on the legs. You can use rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. Some people then paint on a coat of laquar base sanding sealer, thinned 50/50 with laquar thinner to give the paint a better surface to bite to. |

| | Re: Pewter legs/painting Bird...? thats another story, my uncle took a girlfriend home and was really proud of this one...so when he took her home he asked my grandfather what he thought of "this" one, my grandfather said he thought she swapped legs with a mosquito and got cheated out of her butt, needless to say he popped my uncles balloon! LOL...not a disfunctional family or anything ha ha | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
