Default Oregon Juncos

I just finished these for a friend. We enjoy Juncos at the bird feeder during the winter. The birds and base are from tupelo. The lower part of the base is black walnut. The perching branches are natural Manzanita brush.

The bird on the right is pretty much as shown in a recent Wildfowl Carver magazine article except I turned the head to fit how I wanted the bird to face. The one on the left is from my drawings.

I finished them from cutting them out to the final boxing up in about 8 days. That's record time for me.

Now, on to the next project.

Looks like an excellent job. I enjoy watching the juncos....can't understand why they got such a silly name.

I admire bird carvers especially. The tiny details that bring them to life are always so subtle.
These are brilliant.
