This is a bird I have gathered a lot of provenance to substantiate an attempt to duplicate. The carving is not a particular challenge, the painting on the other hand appears to be daunting. I have not forumlated a definite approach to the painting, as of yet. Nice work on a real favorite bird. I had a colleague Biology Teacher and birder superb who maintained a captured Saw Whet for years (with DEC permission). Pretty Bird and very interesting...."Doc"

Beautiful job hugh. i was wondering now that you find these "easy" to carve is there any chance you could put a tutorial together? never tried a whole bird, just heads for walking sticks, but i'd like to give this owl a go....and with a good tutorial i'd feel confident enough to try....so any chance?
