Default northern cardinal

here are some shots of a cardinal I'd done as a Christmas present for my mother-in-law. Basswood and acrylics. he branch he's perched on is also linden (basswood) I'd harvested from a tree in my front yard!

Any comments are appreciated!

Mark

Hi Bill,

thanks! the bird is all one block, about 9" total length. I did the rough-out work with hand saws, then gouges, and the final work with power bits in a dremel. It's about impossible to see in these pictures, but I also burned the feather detail in lightly.

thanks for looking, and taking the time to leave a note!

Mark I think you did a nice job on this cardinal, plus your painting made him come to life just right.
Using a tree branch from your yard adds that personal touch to him also. All in all,a very neat carving and I like him. Thanks for sharing him with us. Keep up the great work Mark.

Forrest
