 Re: My loon Great carving--beautiful job. Loons are an awesome bird and you captured it so well. And...great paint hints from Kathy. I learned early to use white and black sparingly--and always "cut" them with other colors to reduce the harshness and make the final color more natural. Can't wait to see your next carving. Donna T

| Re: My loon Thanks to everyone with their kind words and helpful hints. You guys are a great community! News update as regards to the loon.....it won first place at Winnipeg in a miscellaneous class(too big for miniature and too small for full size) of about 30 carvings. It won second place in BC, under intermediate waterbirds, miniature.  |

| Re: My loon Wonderful piece of art. This one is in the running for the triple crown, along with BARBARO. Loons are such a majestic bird. We have a pair that return to our lake every year. We enjoy watching them. I caught a nice pose of one of them. You can see it in the reference photos thread. "My wildlife photos" Keep up the fine work. Dick  |
