Default Re: More Wigeons (finished)

I may work slowly but at least I'm not too fast.

I finished the bases for these guys today and will let the birds sit and cure for a bit before putting on the finish.

I have seen bases similar to these on the internet and thought they really added a nice touch to a keeled decoy. Since I've got lots of ash as well as spent 12 ga. shells I thought I'd give it a whirl. I like 'em.

I painted these concurrently, but see things in each bird that I wish I had done on the other. The Godin CD was really excellent guidance in the painting (and would have been in the carving too except I had already carved the birds when the CD arrived).

Anyhow...these are them.

Your Wigeons turned out fantastic. I really like the shot gun shells also, great touch. I also like how much grain of wood is showing for the base and back ground. Great job on both birds. Bird carver

Those are really cool! Love the bases and shotgun shell mounts. Very nice painting as well, I don't do birds and enjoy seeing what bird carvers do.
