Very nice work. I have to ask a stupid question, why are they called "ring necked" I don't see a ring, but don't mind me, I have little knowledge of ducks.

They are called "Ring Necked Ducks" because the Drake has a Chestnut coloured ring around the base of his neck. Check out any of the image files on the net and you will see the ring, its very noticable against the Black and the head has a Purple iredesicence.

Don your RingNeck looks great! I really like your little guy...from what I can see, your detail is very nicely done and I'd love to see a closer look at him... I've just purchased two of Anthony Hillman's minature duck decoy and flying duck book patterns as I thought I'd give them a shot... I've roughed out my first flying Bufflehead and so far quite pleased with him...hope mine turns out half as nice as your little guy!!! Thanks for sharing and giving encouragement to 'newbies' like me... Safe carving to you and keep'em comin...we really enjoy them!
