Default Love & Happiness

This is a Mandarin duck, found mostly in China and Japan where it is held in high esteem as a symbol of love and happiness. This is a beautiful bird, I just hope to do it justice.

The model is made of Plastiline Clay and will be used for reference during the carving process and the pictures of it will be used to make a pattern.

The wood is Atlantic White Cedar and the finish will be a combination of natural wood (on the side in the center of the duck) and thin airbrush dusting of color's in all other areas.

I know what you mean Dave ...lol... but it's a folk-art piece and I can always say it was meant to look that way
