Default lots more practicing

After looking at lots of others bird carvings on here, mine is "lacking" somewhat! lol, but I applogize for posting so many carvings here. I will do lots more practicing, looking at others, and try to study the bird more as I carve. In other words, "watch, listen, and learn"!! I only carve as a hobby and something to do as I bum around the country in my fifth wheel, so its a good past time and all you guys here are great! thanks
Errol

I certainly see nothing wrong with practice. But see no reason you should not post more pictures of your work. I enjoy seeing them! Be proud of what you do, Strive to improve if you wish, enjoy what your doing in any event.
While undoubtably their are contributors who may have more skill than you and most certainly me, I bet each of them know the works of others who humble them and push them to improve!!

It's kind of like the nursery rhyme or poem(?) about the 7 blind men describing an elephant. Each had a vastly different view if you will, based on the portion of the elephant they were examining. Yet each was a completely accurate decription, it just was not the total picture.
We all see things from our own perspective, and capturing that image is what makes us tick. Perfection is a noble but unattainable goal, it is in our failures we learn and improve. Keep doing what you do and don't be hesitant to share. We all learn from each other.

Errol ,
I think your birds are really nice. There are some great bird carvers here but that is no reason to consider yours less. Everyone carves differently and time and practice makes a big difference. But if your happy with what your carving , nothing else matters. Carving is about the carver. His being pleased with what he does. Enjoy the journey, I have said before it isn't about the carving it is about us.

I use photos to give me perspective , it make me a third person. Please keep posting you pics and let us enjoy your journey with you.

Ash

Errol, what the hell are you talkin about. You must have been drunk when you posted this. Man, what's going on here. I can't believe you posted this. I would suggest you put all those so called bad carvings in a box and either bring them (in your travels) or drop them in a box and ship the whole lot off to me here in Ontario, I'd be dang proud to display them in my home. Have you seen some of the stuff I post, I'm sure it makes some people chuckle when they see it, but I ain't quittin, cause I'm proud of what I've accomplished in a few short months, and I have only had a couple negative comment so far, so KEEP POSTIN THEM THAR PICS BUDDY, I LIKE 'EM.

I felt exactly the same when I walked into the Ward World championship for the first time. There are so many incredibly good carvers. I was in Novice, along with a freakin full size golden eagle.

But I learned a lot, and in the end it was far more inspiring than discouraging.

Guys, I didnt mean I wasnt ever going to post again. I meant I was going to practice on doing better on my carvings. I'm not mad at anyone. LOL, I'm working on a couple now, and the wife tried to move one of those "yellow posts" in Food lion'c parking lot with my f350 dully, messed up the passenger door, looked like a yellow school bus by the door!! so this is the first time I have been here since I posted...But all is ok and I'll be posting soon. thanks
Errol
