Default Looking for Great Blue Heron Info

Hello to all!

I am looking for measurements for the Great Blue Heron. I am planning on carving a life sized one for the yard. Any and all comments or information will be a big help. Thank you in advance.

Michael

I don't know if this will help but there's a gorgeous blue heron for sale on ebay. It's done by Jamie Hand, one of my very favorite carvers. Oh, I wish I could afford it.

Item number:180776281293
It's Item # 180776281293 for sale by antiquearchaeology

Thank you for the input. I have visited several web pages looking for body size measurements - only found the height so far. I have also seen several carved birds available as well, however I have the intentions to carve my own bird. I would also like to develope my own pattern.
Have a great day!

Michael

All the best on the project.

That's an impressive bird by Hand, Nancy......might even be big enough to keep "BAD CAT" at bay.

Is that a "Bird in the Hand"? sorry...couldn't pass that one up.

Al

Michael, I don't have any direct sizes for a full sized blue heron, but do have plans for a small one. If you can give me the size you plan on carving, I can extrapolate the other dimensions for you.

Acording to the Audubon Guide the herons range from 39" to 52" tall.

Al,

I would like to carve a life size bird, so any size that fits into the size range listed would be good. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
Regards,

Michael

Al,

Thank you for the replies. I do not plan on starting the carving right away, just now in the planning stage. I look foward to hearing from you.
