Hello to all! I am looking for measurements for the Great Blue Heron. I am planning on carving a life sized one for the yard. Any and all comments or information will be a big help. Thank you in advance. Michael |

I don't know if this will help but there's a gorgeous blue heron for sale on ebay. It's done by Jamie Hand, one of my very favorite carvers. Oh, I wish I could afford it. Thank you for the input. I have visited several web pages looking for body size measurements - only found the height so far. I have also seen several carved birds available as well, however I have the intentions to carve my own bird. I would also like to develope my own pattern. Have a great day! Michael |

Have you tried any Bird watching fourms ? Im sure some Birders in the US would be able to give you the info you are looking for All the best on the project. Cheers AL |

Michael, I don't have any direct sizes for a full sized blue heron, but do have plans for a small one. If you can give me the size you plan on carving, I can extrapolate the other dimensions for you. Acording to the Audubon Guide the herons range from 39" to 52" tall. Al |
