| | Latest Carving Believe it or not this is the first carving that I've finished so far this year. I've been working with my Dad a lot and it's made it hard to find time to carve.
This box turtle is made from Cypress, like the last turtle I made the marking on the shell are burned while the head and legs are painted. I've posted more pictures on my website. www.oldoakenterprises.com
The second picture is of the three turtles that I've made to date. Left to right is the earliest to most recent.

I've been visiting your web site to see what you've been up to. Glad to see you perfecting your turtles. This one is even better than the last to me. Love the colors. Congrats on another carving well done, and I do hope you find more time to carve in the coming months.

| | Re: Latest Carving Hay, I agree, great job. I have been thinking about going fishing in the Gulf real soon and every time I go I see sea turtles. Now that may not be a sea turtle but a turtle is a turtle. So the thought of going fishing has had me thinking I should do a carving of a turtle. Well, you posted your carving and beat me to the punch!
Really nice job and I like the natural finish.

| | Re: Latest Carving Thanks everybody for the compliments.
There's a little bit of a story behind this turtle. My grandmother wanted to buy the last turtle from me, but I couldn't bring myself to charge her what would have made it worth it to me to part with it because I'd put a lot of time in to it. So I'd decided to make her one (This one) for her birthday. Well with working and other things it was the day before her birthday when I finished it. And in the end I spent more time on this turtle then the last one. Oh well I enjoyed making it and I got to see her expression when she opened the box it was in. And that made it worth it.
Tony they are all about 5 in. long. Which is about life size.
