Default Help to identify

Hello. My father has given me a wonderful wood carving of a seagull. He purchased it about 40 years ago from a person who represented it to be a prop from the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds".

A photo is attached. The base is 6"x8" and the gull is 16" tall. On the base is carved "Big John IV by Carmichael". Regardless of this items heritage, it is beautifully executed as you can see. I am merely trying to identify the artist and if in fact it may have been used in the movie.

Thank you for your help.
