Default Hello Carvers! New pics!

Hello fellow woodcarvers,
I have just posted pictures of my first ever carved bronc with a cowboy clinging to it.
You can see it here:
http://members.tripod.com/kwp75_58/Kathys_Carvings.htm
Take a look and tell me what you think.
I am really interested in capturing motion, does anyone have any tips, hints or ideas. I've read many books, but am self taught and my teacher isn't the greatest.
Thanks!!
Take care,

Edited because I posted the wrong url!! *blush*

That is your first carving ever and with the problem you have? Wowser, OUTSTANDING to say the least. Can't wait to see your next and next and next carving. I believe you have found your style and niche.

Looks great.

Hi Kenny!
I think I didn't make it clear that this was my first *bronc with a cowboy* carving. I have been carving horses for a while now. I hope that I'm not too confusing.
Thanks for your compliments, I appreciate them very much.
Have a great day!

Beautiful job.......you captured both well, horse and rider. I would suggest that you use a flat finish on your varnish.......try it on your next project and see what you think. Well done.

Just visited your site again, beautiful work. There is character in that cowboy, well carved and well presented. Keep up the good work.

I'm self-taught also but from a megapizel viewing perspective I'd say that you have a pretty good grasp on motion. As a fellow "teacherless" life-long carving student, I just keep looking for new ways to take myself out of the comfort zone of what I already know by forcing myself to add new expressions and emotions in my faces.

To capture an accurate expression of motion in animals is certainly a challenge and I'm sure you must have already studied every rodeo book there is so perhaps you should try playing some Garth Brook CD's during your next carving session and see how that helps :-)

Thanks again for posting your work!
