Hi, I've been out for many months, since I moved and I have no internet conection nor I have been able to be very actuive at carving. I wanted to share my last piece (started in December... duh). As this is no my PC I can't upload the pictures, but I have them upload in a page, which will be easier. I had carved dogs before, but I had avoided carving GSDs because everyone has a very precise preconceibed idea of what a GSD should look like, but after two attempts I finally made something that I'm happy with. I wanted something to be recognized for everybody, not only GSD fans, but I didnt want a stiff stack like a show dog, that's why I didn't align the front legs and tilted slightly the head, to give a more alive expression. It's made on rauli wood. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Tarik; 07-18-2008 at 04:44 PM. Reason: added information |

oh that is a wonderful carving !! he is alive, very alert, and curious, how he leans his head slightly to the side, i have seen that so often in young german shepard dogs...wow what a great catching of the character of a dog... i also like that he is not overly detailed, just enough that we can "feel" his fur, see where his bones are, yeah !! thanks for sharing, really amazing carving

Thanks to all!! I expect to have internet in about a month and to be active again, I too miss you and all the knowledge on this site. I don't have all my tools with me, that's one of the reasons I haven't been carving as much as I wan, so slow at carving this one and also why the figure still doesn't have a base.
