Default Flock of shorebirds

I bought Del Herbert's book on shorebirds last fall. Finally got to doing something with it. Couldn't decide on which of the 7 I would carve so I carved them all. I should say I AM currently carving them since they are works-in-progress. But, they are getting fairly well along. I carved in eyes on some (not fully, but enough to give the appearance). I will insert the eyes shortly. And, I have some small details and finish sanding to do.

The bodies on the 3 larger ones and the heads and bodies of the smaller 4 are laminated aspen. I used 5-6 boards glued up to make a block of carving size. On the 3 larger ones the heads are cut out separate and I used tupelo for those heads.

Painting is coming up fast and that's the part I'm forever apprehensive about.

Anyhow...here they are.
