Default A fish or two from the past

I haven't been carving much on my favorites (fish) lately mostly due to these 2 shoulder surgeries over the last couple years. Kinda hard to whittle when the arms don't work.

Anyway here's a couple I did a ways back. The bluegill was for my sister in law. The fish, rocks, clams and clamshells were all carved from aspen. The water lily is from brass rod and sheet.

The brookie is also carved from aspen, as are the rocks and the snail......hafta look close for that, though.

I don't think I've posted these before.

Arms are feeling a lot better and I have an 18" northern pike in the works, that will get done later this spring, I hope!

Al

Hey Al, very nice carvings, I especially like the 'brookie' nice painting on both too. Glad to hear your arms are feeling better and I hope you will share your progress on the pike with us.

Saw these fish in real life and they are fantastic! I thought the rocks were really rocks, fooled me. Al, your fish make my carvings look like the work of an amateur; which I am of course, only way down the totempole.

Hi AL, Very easy on the Eyes. They would look good anywhere you would put them. Looking forward to seeing your finished Northern Pike. Hope your Arms keep on the mend. Merle

Al, those fish look good enough to fry!! I really like your bases, and the carving & painting is excellent. I hope to paint that well one day on my birds.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Earlier this month I managed to get hold of a rally nice piece of tiger maple, and I think I see a trout or bluegill in there....maybe enogh for both. But as usual, my carvings seem to take forever and I don't see anything developing from that till way later this fall or winter.
