Default Finally got a Wigeon painted

I have been on the move lately and not too many visits to the board. I see some interesting stuff that I'll have to get back to. Gotta run off again this morning, but I finished painting the first of my 3 Wigeon and I wanted to post a pic. I had a timeline on this one as it turned out that my former boss is retiring (party tonight) and the organization wanted to buy a carving for his retirement gift. He's a duck hunter and I'm sure will appreciate the decoy.

I had a fishing trip lined up for this week and a not-yet-finished paint job. So, I took the decoy with me to the river bank and finished him in camp. The picture was taken along the Owyhee River in eastern Oregon.

Many thanks to Blackjaxe for his suggestion on painting!!!!

That is fantastic! I would love to see your former bosses face when he receives this. You are really talented.

Awesome paint job on the duck! Must try that to see if it improves my painting, doing it out by the river. Black flies and skeeters would no doubt mess up mine! Great carving, I'm sure your boss will be tickled!

Randy,
Very nice. I can just see him skirting down the bank into the river as we speak. Beautiful painting as well.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Thx Oscar. The fishing was good...mostly browns there these days, with the occasional rainbow. Larger fish are 18-20 inches (some much larger, but we didn't connect on those). It's a tailwater fishery with lots of hatches.

Absolutely fantastic paint job Randy, your boss is going to be very surprised when he recieves this work of art. The Widgeon has always been one of favorite birds and you certainly nailed the painting and carving on this one.
And once again thanks for the reference to me, but remember it was you wielding the brush not me.....my hats off to you.

Ken

Randy,
I'm envious. Super work! I have unfinished ducks 'cause I'm afraid to paint them. Wish you could give me lessons.
