As usual another great piece to me he looks as if he is sitting there large as life on the stump. You really do a great job on your birds thanks for letting us see him.

| | Re: Finally finished the Great Horned Owl Hugh, (or anyone)
Where is the photo posted? I tried getting into the picture trail gallery but it wouldn't let me in for some reason. I haven't been in there for a while and I don't have the link anymore.
Could someone post the link for me?? I'm excited to see the carving.
Thanks.
Chris.

Hugh posted it in the new WCI Carver's Gallery. Look in the left-hand column under "Carving Community". Then click on the "Carver's Gallery."
BTW Hugh, AWSOME!!! Sometime soon (in all my spare time lol) I'm going to try my hand at a bird--and I've been told that Owls are a good one to start on! I'm just afraid I don't have the patience LOL

| | Re: Finally finished the Great Horned Owl I removed the photos, thought they had been posted long enough. The thread seemed to have stopped. Look forward to posting new photos soon. If someone wants to see the owl, it is on my web page, http://www.feathersinwood.com/FOR%20SALE%202.HTM
Bob, the little Saw-Whet is fun, and is realitively easy to carve. Let me know if I can be of any help.

The saw whet does look fun. I love your base--that is also beautiful!
Do you have a pattern for the bird? I've only got basswood, so I'll need to get a chunk of tupelo or jelutong--and I'll probably need to invest in a few more power carving bits. I've only got a flame-shaped typhoon, a small bullet-shaped cutter and some diamond bits. What would you reccomend?
