Default Fat Rat

I am such a clumsy oaf! after hours of carefully carving this rat, I was hurrying to finish sanding it, when it leaped out of my hand and across the floor to freedom. When I picked it up I realized that the fall had chipped one of the ears. No big deal they were to big anyway, so I carved the other ear down to make a matching pair. I joke that when they slip out of my hand while I'm sanding that they are smooth enough and I call it finished. I have never had one chip before. Anyway here's a few pictures of before and after the escape attempt. As you can see I had his ears to big in the first place. He's probably more anatomically correct now. As always, I appreciate the interest and comments.

Mateo, your fat rat is great and I can see you put a lot of time on him. By the way what kind of wood did you use?

That is a beauty! I'm assuming that's another nut carving. It's like ivory!

The fat rat is made from a tagua nut. Vegetable ivory. With inlaid violeta eyes and nose. Thanks for checking it out.

purple heart, Ron. Sorry, forgot to use the English name. I've been asleep at the switch all day. It's not the material of choice, but the darkest wood I had.

Mateo,
That is a very cool carving. Is the tagua nut a hard substance. Once again very neat carving.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark
