Default eye rings

I'd like to start adding eye rings with this two part ribbon epoxie I keep reading about in my carving books. Can anyone here tell me what brand and where I might be able to get it (ie. local hardware store) One of the carving suppliers here in Canada sells two part mixtures called Quickwood,QuickCopper,Apoxie clay and Apoxie sculpt. Does anyone use any of these for this purpose? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Aaron

"Apoxie" works great, is two part and comes in two 1/4 pint jars. We use it for about everything. I also found out you can mix acrylic paint with it if you are fast and it will hold the color.....put some turquoise in to fill a crack in a walking stick....worked fine, no shrinkage.

Thanks, That was the stuff I was leaning towards as it had a one hour working time and you could clean up with water! Just wish someone nearby me carried it as everytime I need something I have to order it and I always order something else to make shipping worth it. I've got more stuff here than I know what to do with right now! LOL

What are eye rings? Hopefully not the latest kind of piercings!

Aaron, I use quickwood for eye rings also for feet. It bonds well to the brass and copper I use for feet.

Eye Rings or Lids. Go around the eye, I use Kulis Carvit, or A B plumbers putty. the Kulis Karvit mostly.

Aaron, if your new at putting on the eye rings, they are much simpler applied in two pcs. Do the top or bottom, I use a skew tip burning pen, to catch the edges of the ring, then after its stuck on there, I use a small pointed paint brush, dampened, to smooth out any imperfections. I might suggest that you look at your eye reference, and draw or copy the lid on a piece of paper before starting to apply the eye rings. It will give you a better feel for putting them on and getting the right shape. Also check the size of the opening after applying the eye ring, sometimes the eye ring will shut out more of the eye on one side than the other. Reference reference
