Default European Robin

I did this bird for a friend whose wife collects items relating to this bird. If I understand correctly it is emblamatic in Britain. I did my research on the net because we don't have this robin in our neck of the woods. It is life size according to the info. I could find. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Reg, that's a very nice carving. I'm just wondering why it's European, we have dozens of robins here in Ontario that look just like it.

Bandaid, these birds are very popular in England. Their likeness is heavily used on Christmas cards and note cards. It is, I am told the namesake for the American Robin. They do both have the signature red breast; but, the European Robin is slightly smaller than the North American version and the red extends on up onto the head.

Very well carved.

Bandaid, that's a beautiful piece of work. Nicely carved and painted, and a great base to go with it!
