Thanks everyone, I'm so glad you like him! I sent my brother pictures, he's pretty happy! Can't wait to see what he thinks of him 'in person'!

Robert, let me know if she forgets about the southwestern Santa...we women tend to have a much longer memory than you men....especially when it's about something we want (AND need!!!!)!

Mark, I do both power and handcarving on everything, plus all the feathers are also woodburnt. As to how long, it's hard to estimate, I started him the end of December, but I never start and work to finish on just one piece. I always have at least three pieces going at all times. One in rough out, one in detail carving stage and one in painting. That way I always have something to be working on.

In fact, while I was doing him, I started and completed a three Santa order....oh, and also worked here and there on a piece for my youngest son. I know it sounds like I have a short attention span, doesn't it?!! Ha! Ha!

Hugh, what a huge compliment, coming from you, that his eyes look like glass eyes!!! Thank you!

Thanks again everyone, I'm glad you think he's good! Deborah

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like him! Oscar, the entire piece, base and eagle, is 9 3/4" tall. How long he took to carve is a hard question to answer, I don't work on just one piece at a time. I like having a few going at once, in different stages of completion. Works well with my Attention Deficient Disorder!

Nancy, if you click on the close up picture on my website (or any of them for that matter), it will open up a bigger picture, better to see the feathers!

Thanks again for the compliments!! Deborah

Deborah,
Remarkable work but then anything, ANYTHING you do is remarkable. What I love about your work is your attention to detail. I dont know how you do it. I remember the teapot I would have gone blind painting that. Really wonderful work from a wonderful artist. You rock girl.
Colin

I've carved a few eagles in my time but none so good as this one. You put in some excellent detail and now I see what I need to do for improvement. Thanks so much for letting us see him and those eyes look very real from here but I know how I've never been satisfied with a picture as compared to the real thing up close and personal.

Thanks Dave! I'm giving him to my brother this weekend. He too, has seen the pictures, I'm anxious to see what he thinks when he actually sees him 'in person'! Thanks again! Deborah
