Default eagle head

these are a couple of bird projects that i just finished up.

stylised hummingbird and flower

eagle bust(may become a stick topper if i find the right piece of wood.

Both look great Rank, but I really like the hummer. Might I ask what wood it is carved from? It looks like a very nice pine.

Someone was asking about what "stylized" was a ways back. This is an excellent example, in both form and use of the wood.

Bob-i am always busy i think i'll get a job so i can rest.
Colin-I check the board regularly,but have been busy building furniture,as none of the pieces have any carving on them i haven't psted any pictures.
Al-the wood is red cedar.

I knew it was red cedar! One of my favourite woods!

With a grain structure like that - harder rings mixed in with soft - how did you handle the sanding?
