HAAAAAA! Good thing your name is Bob 'cause now I can say

YESSS SIR EEEEE BOB,,IT WORKS GREAT!!!!

I had sanded out the edges to 1000 grit and then polished them, and they looked good,,well you should see them now cause you CAN'T see them.

WOW,,thanks so much for the tip. A quick pass with a bit of propane did the trick,,just wonder how much better it'll look if I DO use that OXY cutting outfit,,,bet I could just make the whole thing almost dissappear if not entirely! If some is good,,more MUST be better,,right?

Lets see now,,,where did I leave that fire extinguisher,,,,might come in handy in a wood shop......Hmmmm

mark, i hope you just joking !!!!

i just had opportuntinty to see your bird now. i am amazed, he is so more liveley than i thought he would be. fantastic job you done. ...ah, his golden neck feathers, they really look great... and all the attention to detail you put. like the carved chisel too, looks just like one of mine :-) ... and now seeing how well the story is told, with the unfinished part, just wonderful... thanks a lot for letting us be part so closely of the process.... and now get well earned rest. you deserve it :-)

Oh they do,,and I'm just the guy it happens to,,I don't hesitate to try and push the envelope and sometimes things do happen, but it's amazing what you do learn by making mistakes.Don't be afraid of making them,,some of the greatest inventions were born out of a mistake.I was a bit nervous taking the torch to my new box,,but having samples gave me a good indication of how far and long to go.Samples ,,both with the bird,,and here,,are a great way to go,solve problems and questions ,,and see what happens without anything being at risk. New carvers,,,get yourself some samples and mess them up all you want, experiment with them, not your carving.I have a pretty good idea where my work is going,,and I still find them handy.Take a scrap piece and paint it the way you plan on painting ,staining or finishing your piece,,see what works,,same for burning,,or anything else you plan on doing.Make 'em and use 'em. Quick ,cheap info and answers are right there.

Thanks Aaron,,I think it did turn out pretty well. I'll post the last shots, with it all together probably tommorrow,,putting the last touches to the base tonight. By Friday I should be starting on the next job..they're delivering all the kitchen cabinets for me to do the tree job. 2 approx. 8 1/2 trees arching over the 6 ft. refrig/freezer space,,and they added 2 more trees carved in the sink base as well.Doing them out of Cherry,,should be fun,,they're only about 2 months late and now they're pressuring me to get the job back on schedule..Their schedule was to have them done by now,,and I'm just getting the cabinets,,figures,,the carvers are the last ones in,,and get all the blame.
