Greetings, Does anyone have an online resource to supply the business end of a wine bottle opener - cork screw? I am carving a handle out of oak.

Sorry I don't but first thing I guess would be to find out the name of the curly cue part,maybe by going to Ask.com if nobody here knows it.Then you could do a search.

there are places in the uk where you could buy these, where are you based ? try craft supply places...if not, i would buy a cheap one ,take it apart, then use that....

Exactly what I did when I built that joke French Army Knife. I bought 6 "travel" corkscrews for $1.50 each in the kitchen tools part of a grocery store. Tossed the plastic covers and crushed the plastic handles to get the metal screw-part. Bits of copper tubing, crush fitted in a vise. Drilled the holes, made the aluminum scales, couple of bolts and done deal. I should add that the north end of the metal corkscrew pieces left very, very little metal, flattened, to resist the turning motion. |
