Actually, the base is fake... It's bare MDF wood. I used a wire sponge to draw the lines with asphalt(? BetĂșn de Judea) and then varnished it.
The fins are made of the same piece of the figure.

What would have you done with the base? I accept suggestions as I'm planning to do more of them.

I stand corrected. Looked like a Killer Whale to me. Tarik said he had done it for a friend and I had assumed the friend's name was Commerson. That's what happens when you spend too much time staring at yourself in front of a mirror!

Tarik....we used to go fishing off of Valpariso but never saw any dolphins! Caught some trout about the size of dolphins in the Rio Tolten down around Lago Villarica, does that count for anything? Southern Chile has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world!

Myself....I'd suggest having the dolphin jumping from a carved sea. I was always mesmerized watching dolphin and porpose leaping around the bow of our ship as we sailed along, so I guess that is how I see them.

Lynn, Valparaiso is probably too crwded with big ships to see dolphins, but I've seen bottlenose dolphins about 50 km. north of there.

In X Region (Where Villarica is) I've seen big groups of Common Tonina (my figure is also called Tonina Overa, but it's found southern from there)

Sorry you missed the dolphins, they are quite common to see if you ask fishermen where to.

Bob... I'm afraid than to carve sea waves is over my capacity right know, but who knows... some day. I'm good doing animals, but ask me to carve anything else, even a square box, and I collapse.
