Default Cedar Box Turtle

Here's my latest piece of work, just finished it today. It's made out of western cedar and is 5 in. long, 3 in. wide and 2 in. tall. The grain runs the 3 in. length, a mistake that I won't repeat. I burned the markings on the shell and painted the head and legs with oil paints. I finished it with polyurethane.

Dylan, that's a remarkable carving. Is it done in red or white cedar? Juat wondering on the coloration.

Thanks for the compliments. They mean more then you know.

Al, I think that this is the red. All I really know is that it's not the local eastern cedar.

Bob, the male's have red eyes and female's have yellow-brown eyes. There are other ways to tell the different. But I don't know them. I painted this one to be male.
