Hello, I have just finished a walking stick on which I carved a snake curling around the walking stick. It took quite a while to do. I would appreciate everyone taking a quick look and any suggestions. Thanks, Randy Spencer MY WEB SITE Kentucky Walking Sticks http://www.kywalkingstick.com Last edited by stixman; 11-17-2007 at 06:27 PM. |

Randy, you done good. It's a great looking stick and I've been studying sticks because that is my main interest in wood carving. It must have taken quite a few days to finish that one. Keep the pix comming we love 'em. Cliff |

Yep, there's a nice snake on that stick. I'm working on a small magic wand that is similar. Are your snake skin scalesnoticable to the touch and if so, how did you do it and did it take forever?

The snake scales are very noticable on the snake. I used a Foredom wood chisel to make each of the snake's scales. Used a heat gun to really makem stand out. Then coated the stick with about 5 coats of poly. |

Did you wet the skin before applying the heat?

After I made the scales I smoothed them down with a damp cloth, however I also smoothed them down appiling the poly.
