Default I carved a raven

Hey everyone,
Just a short note to say that I tried to carve a raven this weekend. It didn't turn out bad...as soon as I have a chance, I'll snap a photo of it so you all can critique it. It's based on a photo Alfie Fishgap sent me...but I did it on a much smaller scale, so I didn't make it as detailed as his. I also started with a square block, so it's a little lopsided, but it actually the first carving that I've totally finished!

I carved it using knives and chisels and some dental chisels that i have that are in serious need of sharpening. Then I sanded it with progressively finer sandpaper up to 400-grit. Then I applied paste wax with 0000 steel wool, waited 10 minutes and buffed it.

It was a valentines day present for my wife, but she saw it, so I gave it to her early!

I'll try to snap some photos this afternoon!

Bob

Oooooooooo ............... I'm so jealous. I suppose "jealous" isn't the correct word. I want to carve a bird. I want to carve a CROW - I don't know ravens.
Someday I'll get up the nerve. Someday ............

When you do Nancy it will be something to "crow" about.
