Great fish! Love the detail and finish. When is the fish fry?

Thanks to you all for your kind words, and thank you Jerry for your helpful ideas to make my next carving better yet. I am in process of a woodcock, we will see how that goes. Thanks again. Foamer

I have to say how beautiful you made the fish look. I am familiar with the brook trout, and this one looks underwater and well. I like the colors, and the gentle sway of the body shape.
Very enjoyable carving to see.

Wow! That is a beautiful carving, Foamer. There are two areas that I can suggest could be worked over a little next time. And this is sure not meant to detract from your carving in any way. The maxilla has already been mentioned, so here are the two areas I spotted.

1. You might want to undercut the outer opercle just slightly. (gill plate)
I've found that a small triangular riffler works perfectly for this type
of detail.

2. Smoothing out and working some musculature into and around the
base of the pectoral and pelvic fins.
