Default Brown Trout Carving

Hi,
As you can see by my membership date I have been reading this forum for a few years and have learned a great deal. Thought I would post a couple pictures of my first Brown Trout. It certainly isn't perfect and the spots were brutal. As I said before in other post I am a very new carver and enjoying it very much. If anyone would care to critique this carving I have thick skin and the only way to get better is to hear people opinions. Thanks for your help.
Foamer

Hi Foamer, I think you are being a little hard on yourself. I think you ought to get that fish back in the water before it dies. Ha,Ha. I also think it's an Excellent piece, be proud of it. Merle

Thumbs up Re: Brown Trout Carving

That is a great looking brown trout Foamer. Don't beat yourself up over it . If you were competing with this then only you and the judges would know anything about the spots, but for the normal person that is one fine carving. Keep up the good work

Foamer.......you should change your name to Mr.Modesty.

GET THAT DARN FISH BACK IN THE WATER BEFORE HE DIES.

All kidding aside, its a great carving and I'm no fish expert but the paint job looks pretty darn good to me, super clean lines and nicelt painted spots which appear to have taken a great deal of time and caring.

Foamer, here is my opinion... I think you have done a fantastic job. I been fishing all my life and I started to throw a fly at the computer screen to see if I could get to bite.... looks real to me....
Great job.... keep going...

Very nice fish, don't be afraid to put some white around the maxillary, outer opercle and around the eyes. I couldn't see if you put in the axillary process, and remember the highest part of the fish is just in front of the dorsal fin.
over-all A+.

Hi Foamer,
Beautiful looking Brown you have carved and finished.
I can only hope my fish, when I do one, turns out looking half that good.
Looks real Foamer.
Carve on,
Jim

Foamer... I'm presently doing a bit of X-C skiing up near Crater Lake NP. The place we're staying has a wireless link and I brought the laptop along to check e-mail. The connection is a bit slow and I haven't done much but peek at the WCI site, but I really must comment on your brown. He's a BEAUT! I've only done interpretive fish and I love doing them. Realistic fish are on my list. I'd be awfully happy to do as fine a job as you have on this guy. Thx for sharing him.
