Default Bob White Quail WIP

Havn't posted in a while been carving cork decoys here's a Bob White Quail work in progress.Tupelo bird basswood and black walnut base .

The grass is temporary Im makinfg dried grasses from copper .The new grass is taller ill p[ost pic of new grasses later gators.

You all are too kind but I appreciate the kind words .Here is the base and new grass the quail is in primer and ready to paint the base is black laquer paint and at last count I had 10 coats .I buffed it to a nice satin gloss.

The quail is excellent. How did you do the legs and feet? Are they inserts of wood or did you form them? I really like the random feather layout.
