Good looking fish and habitat. I've only done one bluegill, but yours sure look real.

Tell us though, what you've done to finish it. Have you airbrushed it? AND what have you used to make the water layer--bondo, carved wood, epoxy, WHAT? It fits well around the stump and I'm curious about what it is.

Thank you all for your kind comments and critiques. This will only help make me a better carver. I will try my best to answer some of the questions. These Blue Gills were painted with both an airbrush and brush. All the scale tipping were done ONE BY ONE!! with a brush, wow that takes a while and eye strain to boot. The bars on the side of the gill were also dry brushed on, I got them a little heavier than I had planned, I need to remember to error on less paint than more. The spiny dorsal is made from hawthorne needles and tissue paper and glue. The lake bed is made out of Paper Mache."Timberwolf" Like I say I am a relativley new carver and there are so many things that I can hardly wait to carve, I think a Crappie would be a fun project as well as a LG mouth bass. The woodcock is on the bench now. Again thanks for responding.
