Smile black capped chickadee in cedar







likw all woodcarvers, I look for interesting pieces of wood while hiking or walking in the woods. I found a piece of cedar other day, and I could see a little chickadee flying out of it!! hehe! 1st pic is after I cut out with a coping saw, (dont own a band saw anymore since I am a "fulltime" RV'er) 2nd is the finished bird mounted on same piece of cedar. thanks

thanks everyone for the compliments! I have decided on this mounting on a cedar block, he looks more "alert" lol! on the finish I mixed some "poly" with a little linseed oil, then after it was dry used #0000 steel wool to rub down, then hand rubbed with paste wax
