I have posted photos of my latest piece in the cavers gallery. I started this Debbe Edwards roughout last October and posted some early photos in the WIP section as Black Bear Sow and Cub.
This piece was carved with hand tools except I used a foredom to open the area between the cub's hind legs. The hair was carved in with a #11/1 & 2mm then detailed with a burning pen. It was painted with acrylics, the rocks finished with tung oil, eyes coated with Treasure Crystal Cote and the whole thing sprayed with matte Krylon.
I am working on a life size barn owl; but, this (bears) will probably be the last piece I finish for a while. We are building a house here on the ranch and I am the Contractor's "go fer". We are at the stage where things slow down and we continue even in bad weather. I will eventually be doing relief carvings on the two beams in the living room.

Kool bear Paul....great detailing. Love the set up. The paw prints really adds too it. Very well done!
